Dear Losfeld-,

We have received a notice of copyright infringement from
the ADAGP via the Yahoo! France Copyright Team and have
removed the photo "Francis Picabia. Dits" from your
photostream.

ADAGP is a French collecting society that manages the
copyrights (including reproduction rights) of sculptors,
painters, architects, designers and photographers. As you
may know, copyrights persist even after an artist's death,
which is why ADAGP manages works of both living and
deceased artists. While some museums or other institutions
may authorize you to take pictures of the works they have
on exhibit, this does not authorize you to reproduce such
photos over the Internet, in a paper, etc. Unless they are
themselves owners of the copyright in the works, these
institutions are not legally empowered to authorize any
reproduction. They may allow you to take pictures on their
premises, but they generally do not own the copyright
allowing for reproduction of the work.

In this instance ADAGP has asserted that the works depicted
in your photos may not be reproduced without its prior
authorisation. We hope that this helps you understand the
reason for these restrictions and our legal obligations as
hosting provider in terms of copyright policy. Should you
have further questions about ADAGP and their rights in the
works at issue, please contact ADAGP at:

infringement against your account could result in further
action that may include termination without warning.
